How to decide which provider to use

We fully understand finding the appropriate people to work with you and your family can be a confusing process and difficult decision to make.  When deciding who may be the best fit for you and/or your loved ones, keep the following in mind:

  • Speak with a few different organizations.  Gain some understanding on how they operate and what they believe.

  • Learn if they are shame based or use fear tactics to scare you to work with them.

  • If they say they are licensed, verify the licensure through the licensing board in the state they reside in.  In Minnesota, it is the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy. (BBHT).  https://mn.gov/boards/behavioral-health/

  • All you need to verify a license is a full name or their license number.  Ethical, licensed clinicians are more than happy to provide you with their license number.

  • Verify they are fully insured, as a business as well as professionally.  You can do this by requesting they have their insurance provider send it to you directly.

  • Lastly, go with your gut. Those of us who work in this industry know we are not the right fit for every situation.  Our only desire is to see people recover from destructive behavior patterns and live a happy, joyous and free life.
